The adventure begins at the parking lot on Sihbruggstrasse and takes you along a picturesque hiking trail by the river. The trail changes character as it goes, ranging from gravel paths to singletrack trails that wind through the surrounding landscape.
The route requires you to cross the Sihl River twice—once shortly after the start and again halfway through. The outbound leg is nearly flat, while on the return leg you’ll tackle a few meters of elevation gain before reaching the finish.
Several remarkable highlights await you during your adventure. The narrow gorge and the numerous Nagelfluh boulders make the otherwise tranquil Sihl appear wild and ancient. The trail not only winds around the moss-covered rocks and beneath overhanging walls right along the banks of the Sihl, but also through tunnels—the Sihl Galleries. The tunnel system was originally built to supply water to the city of Zurich and has, perhaps by chance, become a tourist attraction.
