Have you ever heard of water hiking? The idea of a "water hike" is basically pretty simple. However, instead of walking around various lakes in the conventional way with hiking boots and a walking stick, you paddle the waters with a stand-up paddleboard. This type of hiking works best in calm and shallow waters such as lakes or rivers. And for this very reason, such an adventure is ideal for beginners, seniors and families with children.
Switzerland is known as a hiking country far beyond its borders. Virtually every corner can be discovered on the 65,000 kilometers of hiking trails. Now it's time to change your perspective. Switzerland is the water hiking Eldorado par excellence. Not only because of the countless bodies of water, but also because our lakes are easily accessible by public transport. Switzerland can also be seen from the water - preferably on a stand-up paddle board.
On our last SUP tour on Lakes Zug and Aegeri, we paddled across mirror-smooth lakes, watched elegant swans close to the shore, paddled through picturesque canals, experienced golden sunsets, made romantic campfires and let our gaze wander over the beautiful hilly landscape again and again.
With paddle in hand and tent in tow, we made a two-day pilgrimage through the picturesque canton of Zug. Get inspired by our travel report in Spot Magazine.
