Hiking and philosophy

Nature

For centuries, philosophers, poets and writers have used hiking as a source of inspiration.

The ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle is said to have gone for a daily walk in the Lykeion, a park in Athens, to reflect on his ideas. Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the French philosopher and writer, was an avid walker and even wrote an essay entitled "On Walking".

In today's world, walking is a rediscovered source of inspiration for many people. If you want to unleash your creativity, develop new ideas or simply reorganize your thoughts, hiking is a wonderful way to do so. The canton of Zug is an ideal hiking region for mindful walking. The well-maintained hiking trails offer something to suit almost every need.
