It is here, where the River Lorze flows into the lake, that ducks and rare birds nest on the nearby island and among the reeds of this protected area.
The flat shoreline is particularly helpful to those learning to swim and it also makes it easier for those going into the lake with rubber boats, air-mattresses and inflatable toys. After sun bathing you can enjoy your picnic on the wooden tables designed by Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata and perhaps engage in conversation with guests from all nationalities you might meet there.
There are also two beach volley ball areas which prove very popular. In the evenings the area is popular with young nature lovers and songwriters are known to gather there and sing round a camp fire as they strum their guitars.
